A Linden spiritualist was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with raping a woman he was supposed to give a “spiritual bath.”

Dion Liverpool appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 1, where the charge of engaging in sexual penetration of a woman without her consent on June 2nd, 2019, at Linden, was read to him during an in-camera hearing.

It is alleged that Liverpool and another man, also identified as a spiritualist, raped the woman. They are alleged to have gone to her home to give her a spiritual bath.

Liverpool allegedly told the woman to pick a card from a deck he had and then instructed her to perform a sexual act with the card. The man then allegedly showed her a beetle fly and told her something was going to happen to her. He then allegedly forced himself on her after which his friend did the same. Liverpool was, however, the only person charged on Thursday.

Liverpool was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until June 26th, when it will be called at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
