Kaituma man accused of stealing cellphone in break and enter

A Port Kaituma man accused of stealing a cellphone was on Friday granted bail on a charge of break and enter.

Hilbert DeSouza of Port Kaituma, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where it was alleged that on June 17, at 32 Big Creek Backdam, North West District, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Floyd Dallon and stole a cellphone valued $63,000.

DeSouza pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the amount of $15,000.

The court heard that the stolen cellphone was recovered in his mother’s bedroom after the matter was reported.

The accused was further charged with inflicting bodily harm on Troy Joseph on the same date, at the same location. He denied the allegation and was released on self-bail.

The matters were adjourned until August 6.
