Autopsies yesterday confirmed that Better Hope moneychanger Aaron Latchman and his daughter Arian both died from gunshot injuries.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force noted that Aaron Latchman died as a result of multiple gunshot injuries, while his daughter died from a single gunshot injury.

The autopsies were performed yesterday by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary.

The Latchmans, of 58 Robert Street, Better Hope North, East Coast Demerara, were shot and killed in a home invasion, which occurred around 3.30 pm, just moments after the man returned home.

At their residence yesterday, family members were still grief-stricken and in shock. They declined to comment when approached and asked that their grieving be respected.

While police had yet to make an arrest yesterday, Stabroek News was told that they have received information which they are working with.

A resident told Stabroek News that he was returning home and saw two men running along the Better Hope Community Centre Ground street. He explained that he initially thought they were in a fight but he later learnt they were a part of the fatal attack. The man said that he saw the men then jumping into a white car that was parked on the main road at the head of the Cmmunity Centre Ground street.

Based on his account, money fell as the men ran and a woman who was selling pastries picked it up.

At the time of the attack only Arian and her father were at home. Aaron’s wife and Arian’s mother, Tracey Waheeda, was at work while her second daughter was at lessons.
