The New Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC) has announced the postponement of the Guyana on Show 3 trade show, which was planned for Antigua.

The two-day trade show, which was supposed to be held in Antigua on July 19th and July 20th, is a joint initiative of the GMC, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Business.

Local fresh food producers and processed food producers were expected to be given the opportunity at the show to market and sell their products in Antigua. Some 30 local entrepreneurs were expected to participate.

In announcing the postponement last Tuesday, the New GMC, in a press release, explained that the postponement was necessary to allow more agro-processors and manufacturers an opportunity to be a part of the event.

The organisers, according to the release, “thought that there is a need for bigger Guyanese representation to showcase the wide variety of products made in Guyana.”

In June, representatives of the New GMC met with Antigua’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Immigration, Paul Chet Greene, and officially announced the collaborations between the two governments for the trade show.

New GMC General Manager Ida Sealey-Adams had told Stabroek News that they were looking to have approximately 30 agro-processors and manufacturers to feature their products at the fair, which was coined “Guyana on Show 3.” Sealey-Adams stated at that time that the estimated costs for the trip stood at approximately $7 million.

The press release stated that an announcement of new dates for the show will be made within one month.
