Accused in murder plot granted bail

A day after being further denied bail by a city magistrate for conspiring to murder a Lethem businessman, Mark Grimmond, the operator of Rockies Hotel in Georgetown, secured bail from the High Court.

Grimmond is charged alongside Chatterpaul Singh, also known as Kevin Singh.

The accused are before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge which alleges that between April 1st, 2018 and June 7th, 2019, in Georgetown, they conspired with each other and persons unknown to murder Dwayne Grant.

Attorney Bernard DaSilva, who represents Grimmond, indicated to this newspaper that an application for High Court bail was made before Justice Navindra Singh and his client was granted his release on $500,000 bail.

Grimmond and Singh are expected to make their next court appearance on July 24th, when the Preliminary Inquiry into the charge is expected to commence.
