A three-year sentence and a fine of $2 million were yesterday imposed on a Thomas Street, Kitty man, who was found guilty of having 10 pounds of cannabis in his home for trafficking.

Paul Smith, of Lot 108 Thomas Street, Kitty, had been charged with having possession of 4.934 kilogrammes (equivalent to 10.8 pounds) of cannabis on May 18th, 2018, at Kitty, for trafficking.

It was the prosecutor’s case that on the day in question, ranks from the police force’s narcotics branch went to Smith’s home and conducted a search, which uncovered two salt bags containing the drugs in the lower flat.

Smith, who had denied the charge, yesterday heard from trial magistrate Dylon Bess that he had been found guilty of the crime.  He was then sentenced and fined.
