The police have been advised to charge a suspect with the fatal shooting of Sophia gold miner Terry Ault, who was killed last Sunday during a confrontation at a pool party.

This was confirmed by Crime Chief (ag) Michael Kingston, who informed Sunday Stabroek News that based on legal advice obtained by investigators, the suspect is likely to appear in court in the new week.

This newspaper had previously reported that Ault, 28 of Lot 63, Block ‘A’, South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was shot to his neck last Sunday during a confrontation at a neighbourhood pool party.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was taken for medical treatment.

An autopsy performed on his body showed that he died as a result of shock and haemorrhaging due to a gunshot wound.

Ault’s sister, Debbie (only name given) had said based on the information given to her family, her brother was reportedly attacked by a man after he was seen talking to the man’s girlfriend.

She added that the man approached her brother from behind and there was a confrontation, resulting in him being shot.

Five persons were initially questioned by the police about the fatal shooting. Four were released on station bail, while the remaining man is the person who is expected to be charged.
