Two unlicensed firearms were unearthed during a search by police at a mining camp in the Waimu Backdam, Cuyuni River and six persons have been detained.
Police said ranks were on a patrol when they visited the mining camp owned and operated by a Brazilian national.
Whilst conducting the search, ranks found a 12-gauge shotgun with seven twelve-gauge cartridges and a 9mm pistol at the camp.
A female chef along with five employees who were present on the camp were detained and efforts are being made to arrest the owner of the mining operations.
