(Trinidad Express) The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is reminding members of the public to be cautious of false information sent via social media, which can cause unnecessary panic and anxiety.

The police issued a statement on Monday after photos began circulating on social media showing human remains inside a dead shark, with a link to the incident where fishermen went missing in the Gulf of Paria.

Police say the people seen in the photo bringing the dead shark ashore, are not members of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.

Police say that two fishermen; 30-year-old Jason Baptiste and 19-year-old Justin Kissoon, still remain missing at sea.

They were among ten fishermen who were thrown overboard during an attack in the Gulf of Paria last month.

Three swam to shore. Five bodies were found.
