Man hospitalised after shot during altercation on High St

A man was yesterday shot on Hadfield and High streets in front of the Ashmin’s building following an argument with another man. Neither individual has been identified.

The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for medical attention and has been admitted.

Up to press time, there was no official statement from the police on the shooting which occurred at around 12:50 pm.

Some attendees of the Youth Parliament programme witnessed the act and shared videos on social media. In one video seen by this newspaper, prior to the man being shot, he was involved in an argument. The video captured when the shooter whipped out his gun and fired a few shots. It is unclear whether the act was an attempted robbery or an argument between the two men.

After firing off the shots, the shooter picked up several items suspected to be spent shells and ran to a silver Toyota 212 car that was waiting.

The wounded man, who was left lying on the road, was picked up by police and rushed to the GPH.
