CJIA seeking firms to provide cambio, other services at airport

The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) is looking for companies to provide a number of services including operate a food/restaurant/bar concession, a cambio, and sell indigenous products at a kiosk.

The corporation yesterday also advertised for companies to submit Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for maintenance services for passenger boarding bridges, maintenance services for escalators/elevators, aircraft line maintenance services and fixed based operator/hangar services.

Interested parties, according to the corporation, may obtain further information from, inspect the EoI document and purchase a complete set of documents from the cashier at the CJIA Finance Department, Administ-rative Floor, Timehri, East Bank Demerara. The documents cost $5,000.

No date was given regarding when the proposals will be opened as the corporation said that it would be specified in the document.

In May, 16 EoIs for the executive lounge and duty-free concession shops in the departures terminal of the newly expanded airport were received.

Six companies also submitted EoIs for office space.

Local companies had expressed concern over the award by the CJIA of duty-free shops in the arrivals lounge to three foreign-owned companies.

The corporation responded saying that it had “an obligation to provide a variety of services for airport users and we remain committed to promoting and supporting our local companies and manufacturers.”
