The Guyana Police Force (GPF), through its Fallen Heroes Foundation, on Friday handed over cheques to the relatives and children of nine officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the years.

The cheques were handed over to nine families, as part of the GPF’s ongoing support to the relatives, during a simple ceremony at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eve Leary.

Among those present were Commissioner of Police (ag) Nigel Hoppie and Chairman of the foundation, Pastor Raphael Massiah.

The Fallen Heroes foundation was launched in 2015 by then Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud to support the families of police officers who have died on the job.

It is a collaboration between the GPF and the Cops and Faith Community Network.

Funds are distributed to the families four times per year to assist in the educational development of the children of the recipients.
