Courts 10K set for September 15

Unicomer Guyana Inc. under the COURTS brand has once again agreed to collaborate with the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) to run off the traditionally successful Courts 10K Road Race.

The official launch of the annual event was held yesterday at Courts on Main Street where it was disclosed that the ninth edition of the event will be staged on September 15 with a $2M budget to blanket the cost of the various lucrative prizes and logistics.

The total prize money remains at $1.15 million since its increase from $960,000 in 2018 and the top six overall finishers will benefit.

Courts Brand Manager, Odetta Aaron, was on hand at the launch and she expressed her company’s pleasure with partnering with the AAG for yet another year and noted that the event promises to be fun filled. In addition to the 10k, there will also be a Golden Mile race for the youth athletes and the 3k race for Courts Guyana Inc. employees.

The winners of the open male and female categories will pocket $100,000 each, while the immediate runners up will take home $80,000, $60,000, $40,000, $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.

COURTS has committed the sum for the highly anticipated fixture which will feature athletes from gyms and clubs across the country in three (3) categories Masters, Seniors, Juniors for both males and females. 

The 10K race attracts the cream of the nation’s road runners will commence in front of COURTS Main Street store from 06:00 a.m and will follow the traditional route. Staff members will participate in a 3K race as the company continues to steer its workers towards living a healthy lifestyle. 

Registration is being conducted at the moment.
