Guyana’s women’s team comprising reigning singles champ Nicolette Fernandes, Mary Fung-A-Fat, Taylor Fernandes, Ashley De Groot and Larissa Wiltshire remained on course to capture gold after completing another 5-0 win last evening at the Georgetown Club Squash Court.
Trinidad and Tobago were Guyana’s latest victim.
Nicolette Fernandes got Guyana off to a winning start by defeating Charlotte Knaggs 11-5, 11-4, 11-4 while Fung – A- Fat got past Alexander Yearwood 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 to make it 2-0.
Taylor Fernandes was next on court and accounted for Marie-Claire Barcant 11-6, 11-3, 11-6.
Wiltshire and Degroot completed the formality by recording wins over Melody Amy Gillezeau and Jaime-Leight Edghill 12-10, 11-5, 11-7 and 11-1, 11-5, 11-8 respectively.
Guyana will face Barbados today in a virtual final.
The men’s team on the other hand, were locked in battle against Barbados last evening for a spot in today’s final.
