CGX was drilling

Dear Editor,

Further to my observations (letter to SN Editor 28th Aug 2019) on the ICJ role mentioned in Ms Lye’s letter, please permit me, in the interest of accuracy, to correct an error in my reply. I stated that in June 2000 Surinamese military vessels intercepted, a CGX vessel which was carrying out seismic surveys on Guyana’s shelf. In fact, the CGX-contracted Jack Up Rig (CE Thornton) and associated support vessels were undertaking the drilling of the Eagle 1 Exploration Well in accordance with their licence etc.

As readers would be aware that, following almost three years of deliberations, the Tribunal handed down an award in Guyana’s favour.

Yours faithfully,

Carl Greenidge
