Eagles stay unbeaten with 3-1 defeat of Hurry ATE

Eagles of Stewartville continued their unbeaten run in the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) leg of the NAMILCO u17 championship, defeating newcomer Hurry ATE 3-1 yesterday at the National Track and Field Center, Leonora.

It was a familiar story for the Eagles unit who took the lead through the consistent Romel Medas, compliments of a penalty kick conversion into the far corner in the 20th minute.

The lead then ballooned four minutes later, as Karen Harris got into the scoring act, uncorking a powerful long range strike from outside the area into the back of the net.

However Hurry ATE pulled one back in the 26th minute, as Daniel Barker scored. It was a self-inflicted concession by Eagles, as they backline failed to clear the danger, allowing Barker to capitalize and finish into the back of the net.

The aforementioned proved to be the last conversion of the half. The second period was equally competitive, with only conversion occurring in the 68th minute to hand Eagles the 3-1 advantage.

Daren Agard etched his name on the scorer’s sheet, after a corner kick from the right side ignited a goal mouth scramble inside the box, allowing the forward to stab his effort into the net.

Meanwhile Den Amstel defeated Pouderoyen 3-0. Following a scoreless first half, Chris Smith opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a powerful strike from outside the box into the back of the net.

Junior Redmond then added his name to the scorer’s sheet in the 56th minute, directing his header into the far corner following a cross from the right side of the field.

The scoreline was then sealed in the 68th minute as Junior Robinson scored, blasting a powerful strike from outside the box into the right side of the goal. On the other hand, Uitvlugt defeated Wales via walkover.
