Two foreign teams for second annual KFC competition

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Guyana has once again thrown its financial support behind the Petra Organization, donating $2,500,000 towards the staging of their second annual International Goodwill Secondary Schools football tournament.

This was confirmed at the official launch yesterday at KFC’s Vlissengen Road office.

Troy Mendonca, Co-Director of the Petra Organization thanked the company for committing again to the event, adding that the initiative testament of the promotional entity’s commitment to the development of the sport.

Meanwhile, KFC Training Manager Charissa Rampersaud said, “Football is a notable sport in Guyana and our future as a football nation looks very encouraging with the current generation of talented youth who are involved in the sport.”

She added, “We are confident that this series of games will be an exciting exhibition of skills and competition that will result in a thrilling experience for all fans.”

The event runs from December 15th -22nd and will feature six teams along two international institutions  USL Montjoly Academy of French Guiana and defending champion Shiva Boys’ Hindu College of Trinidad & Tobago.

Annai Secondary of Region 9,  Waramadong Secondary of Region 7 and the top two teams from the Guyoil Schools’ Football League, which is set to start shortly, will also be included.
