Defending champs among teams through to next round

Defending champion St. Pius, Soesdyke and Genesis secured convincing wins when the 2019 edition of the Courts Pee Wee U11 Football Championship commenced yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

St. Pius crushed Mae’s 8-0. Jamal Fraser recorded a five-goal haul in the fifth, seventh, eighth, 12th and 13th minute while Nickolai Watson added a double in the 11th and 14th minute. Scoring in the third minute was Brian Browne.

Similarly, Soesdyke mauled F.E. Pollard 4-1. Jaden Tasher bagged a hat-trick in the first, second and 13th minut, while Shaquell Caleb added a conversion in the 30th minute.

For the losers, Dequan Norton netted in the third minute. Likewise, Genesis brushed aside South Ruimveldt 3-0. Ricardo Hazel, Anfernee Cummings and Stephon Smith scored in the 15th, 17th and 28th minute respectively.

The 24 team event, which is in its eighth year, will conclude November 2nd. The respective teams will be divided into six groups of four.

The top two finishers from each section and the four best third placed teams will advance to the elimination round. Below features the complete list of results for the opening round of matches.
