Derrick Solomon, the 60-year-old taxi-driver who was charged with the attempted murder of a woman in an attack at Sophia, was yesterday discharged after the victim chose not to offer evidence against him.
The charge against Solomon stated that on March 2nd, at North Sophia, George-town, with intent to commit murder, he wounded the woman.
During an in-camera pre-trial hearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, the woman yesterday indicated to the court that she no longer wished to proceed with the matter and would not be offering evidence against Solomon.
Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus subsequently dismissed the charge.
On the day in question, Solomon and the woman had an argument, which resulted in Solomon allegedly stabbing her about her body.
