A labourer is now a remanded prisoner after being charged with punching a man to the nose.

Devon Johnson, 21, of Lot 165 Cummings Street, Bourda, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday on the charge that on the very day he unlawfully wounded Carl Gonsalves at Regent and Wellington streets, Georgetown.

Johnson denied the charge and was remanded to prison after police prosecutor Sanj Singh told Senior Magistrate Leron Daly Gonsalves suffered from a blunt trauma and a laceration to the nose.

It was reported that Johnson was asked by Gonsalves to move from the entrance of the Regent Mutiplex Mall. As a result, Johnson became annoyed and allegedly punched Gonsalves to the nose.

After Johnson was refused bail the matter was adjourned until October 7th.
