Guyana’s medal hopes at the IAAF World Championships currently underway in Doha, Qatar were dashed again after 800m runner, Quamel Prince, finished sixth of eight in heat five yesterday at the Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar.

On the second day of the 17th edition of event, the USA born Prince clocked 1:48.4, failing to make it to the semis.

The three qualifiers for the heat were Kenyan, Emmanuel Korir (1:45.16s), Mostafa Small (1:45.27) and Puerto Rico’s Wesley Vazquez (1:45.47).

Guyana will be hoping its other representative, quarter-miler, Aliyah Abrams have a more successful campaign than Prince and long jumper, Emanuel Archibald who was also not at the peak of his powers.

Archibald exited in the opening round. He finished 11th of 12 jumpers on Friday with a leap of 7.56m, way below his personal best mark and national record, 8.12m. Abrams’ World Championships campaign begins tomorrow.
