Trinidad: Mom attempts suicide while at park with her four children

(Trinidad Express) A 31 year old mother of four allegedly drank a poisonous substance while with her children at Palmiste Park, San Fernando on Wednesday.

The woman, of St Julien Village, Princes Town, was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Police said around 3 p.m. the woman called a close family friend and told the person that she was at the park with her children, aged 12, 10, four, and two.

She allegedly also told the friend that she drank a poisonous substance.

It happened near the swings. When the children realized that something was wrong with their mother, they began screaming for help.

The woman’s husband and police officers of the San Fernando CID were immediately contacted.

Police said the woman’s husband arrived at the park and took the children.

An emergency health services ambulance took the woman to the San Fernando General Hospital.
