Sherry Ann Marks, a waitress who was previously fined for threatening behaviour, was yesterday sentenced to six months in jail for simple larceny.

Ann Marks, of Lot 123 Middle Road, La Penitence, had been charged in August with stealing a $60,000 cellphone which belonged to Collin Woolford on July 31st.

She had pleaded guilty “with explanation” and claimed she walked away with the phone “by mistake” and was not given a chance to return it. However she had failed to do so and when authorities reached out to her it was to no avail.

When she finally appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in Georgetown yesterday, she learned that she was found guilty of stealing the cellphone and sentenced her to six months in prison.

Marks had also been charged with threatening Seon Hackett on August 6th, at Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown, and was fined $10,000 after pleading guilty to the offence. She was also charged with assaulting Hackett, to which she pleaded not guilty.
