A Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder man died on Tuesday morning after he ingested a poisonous substance after beating his wife and forcing the poison into her mouth.
Dead is Amar Jeffrey, 29, a pound keeper, of Mibicuri. According to information gathered, Jeffrey’s wife, Sherry Satnarine, 30, moved out from their home a few weeks ago and moved to Johanna, Black Bush Polder, after reportedly enduring years of physical and verbal abuse from Jeffrey.
On Monday evening, Jeffrey reportedly arrived at Satnarine’s residence in Johanna and physically assaulted her, then dragged her on the Black Bush Polder main road to his Mibicuri house.
According to residents, they became aware that Jeffrey was armed with a knife as during the beating, he threatened to kill Satnarine, who shouted to residents that he had a knife in his possession.
Stabroek News was told that the man would often threaten to murder the woman.
During the incident on Monday evening, Satnarine managed to escape and fled to a neighbour’s house where she hid throughout the night.
Stabroek News was told that Jeffrey paced the street the entire night and ordered Satnarine out of the neighbour’s house, but she refused.
It was on Tuesday morning while Satnarine was on her way to the Mibicuri Police Station that she was attacked a second time by Jeffrey who forced the poison into her mouth minutes before ingesting the substance himself.
The couple was rushed to the Mibicuri Hospital where Jeffrey succumbed and Satnarine remains in a stable condition.
Satnarine also sustained razor blade cuts during the second attack.
Together, the couple have two children.
