CANU intercepts 94 lbs of suspected ganja at Parika

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) yesterday intercepted 94 lbs of suspected compressed marijuana at Parika.

A statement from CANU today said that the suspected marijuana was intercepted at about 3 am and two men are in custody.

They are Shafeek Latif, 39, of 535 Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) and Naresh Totaram, 35, of 632 Tuschen, New Housing Scheme, EBE.

CANU said that both men were occupants of a Spacio motor car when it was intercepted by ranks with two bulky salt bags containing the suspected cannabis.

Investigations are continuing.
