After a disagreement with a friend ended in violence, a bus driver has agreed to pay the man compensation in order for him to drop the resulting criminal charge.

Marlon King, 39, appeared on Wednesday before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty on the charge that he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm upon Godfrey Felix on October 25th, at Water Street, Georgetown. Felix told the court that he was willing to drop the charge if he is compensated $360,000 by King.

King, a Route 42 bus driver, pleaded not guilty just before his friend, who could not stand in court due to the injury to one of his feet, told the court that they had come to an agreement for payment of $360,000 as compensation.

The court heard that the two were having a conversation when they got into a disagreement and King cuffed Felix. Felix added that King has showed remorse for the incident.

While King did not have the money with him, he assured the court that he would pay the sum in parts by November 25th, the next date set for the matter to be heard.
