Convict sentenced to nine months for church break in

A convicted thief will be spending the next nine months behind bars for breaking into Christ Church.

Raul Ramsaywack told a city court that he was guilty of a breaking and entering charge yesterday when he appeared in the court room of Magistrate Dylon Bess.

The charge states that between November 11th and November 12th, at Waterloo Street, he broke and entered Christ Church, a place of divine worship.

Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris said the priest of the church had secured the building but he later discovered that the eastern side window and the front door were open. He also noticed a bag at the door. The prosecutor said that after checking the bag, the priest found a fan and a lighter.

The court heard that the priest saw Ramsaywack exiting the building and he summoned the police, who arrested the man.

Before Ramsaywack was sentenced, the prosecutor informed the magistrate that the man has been convicted for simple larceny countless times before. With this revelation, Ramsaywack told Magistrate Bess, “See with me nah, it won’t happen again.” The magistrate responded by sentencing him to nine months in jail.
