The island of Leguan, Region 3 is now better protected from overtopping with the reconstruction of the sea defence at Success.

The Department of Public Information said that works on the hundreds of metres of rip-rap are part of a $334M Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) funded project on the island.

Yesterday, Finance Minister, Winston Jordan commissioned the project which was completed last month.

“This is a … project with the support of the Caribbean Development Bank, designed to keep our ocean away for the lands of Leguan. This does go to show what we have been saying that the government is interested in developing not only areas that voted for it, but the entire country,” he told DPI.

On the other side of Leguan, in the community of Endeavour, DPI said that Minister of Social Protection,  Amna Ally commissioned the other half of the sea defence protecting the island.
