Trio charged with China Trading robbery set to face trial

The three men who are charged with the $3.4 million robbery from China Trading were yesterday informed that their trial will commence later this month.

Shane Morgan, known as Delon ‘Demon’ Morgan, 33, a graphic artist of East La Penitence, Georgetown; Duncan Vanvield, 30, a mechanic of ‘B’ Field, Sophia, and Yogonand Basdeo, 30, of Sophia, are jointly charged with the crime.

The charge states that on September 30th, 2019, at Robb Street, Georgetown, while being in the company of each other, they robbed Yong Quan Bi of $3.4 million, which was the property of China Trading.

The men had been remanded to prison and the prosecutor had informed the court that more persons were being investigated for the robbery.

However, when they returned to court yesterday, the matter was transferred to Court 11, where the magistrate gave the three men a date later in the month for trial.

Morgan and Vanvield are also charged with the murder of gold miner, Deon Stall, who was shot and killed after armed bandits attempted to rob him outside El Dorado Trading in Newtown, Kitty.
