A break and enter and larceny accused was remanded to prison yesterday after he told a court that he had no knowledge about the outcome of previous charges against him because he went to Suriname.

Rayon Clarke, 20, was charged with breaking and entering the storeroom of Troy Benn and stealing a chainsaw valued $165,000 and two grass cutters valued $220,000.

Clarke denied the charge but was remanded to prison after the court prosecutor revealed that the man has pending matters at the court. He added that Clarke left the country after he was previously charged for similar offences and that he believes the man may be a flight risk. He also said that Clarke confessed to stealing the tools and even showed the virtual complainant who he sold the items to.

After Clarke confirmed to Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus that he did not know what happened with his previous charges because he left Guyana to go to Suriname, he was remanded to prison until December 9.
