Child dies after car crashes into group on West Coast Berbice

A West Coast Berbice primary school student died this afternoon after a car heading to New Amsterdam crashed into him and his relatives around 4 pm.

According to information gathered, the seven year old lad was on the road with his mother and sibling, along with another woman and her son, when the allegedly speeding car crashed into them.

The accident occurred along the Bush Lot Public Road directly opposite  Pagoo Street.

Stabroek News was told that the car, after slamming into the group of persons, toppled into a nearby drain where it then pinned the lad.

Public-spirited persons rushed over to the scene to offer assistance and removed the lad from under the car, this newspaper was told.

The injured persons were rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital.

Two persons are being prepared to be transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital and two to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
