Agricola residents tightlipped on fatal shooting

Investigators have been unable to obtain any eyewitness statements on last Saturday’s shooting in Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), which left one man dead and a teenager wounded.

Crime Chief (ag) Michael Kingston yesterday informed Stabroek News that investigators visited the community but were unable to obtain any statements from residents as to what exactly transpired.

“Residents are not forthcoming as to who did what,” Kingston said.

The police, in a statement, had said that Seon Bobb, 24, of Eccles, was shot and killed while teenager Daniel Webster, of 105 Caesar Street, Agricola, was injured during a shooting, which occurred on Caesar Street around 6.29 pm last Saturday.

Relatives had told this newspaper that the shooting took place between Second and Third streets.

Police investigations had revealed that two suspects, who were identified as ‘Plucking’ and ‘Big Life,’ were armed with handguns and discharged several rounds in the direction of Bobb.

Bobb, police said, sustained a gunshot injury below his chin. Webster at the time, police added, was in close proximity to Bobb and was also shot. He suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

They were both picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where Bobb was pronounced dead on arrival. Webster remains hospitalised.

Webster’s grandfather, Collin Forde has said that his family is also seeking answers on the shooting.Forde had said that his grandson was on his way home from football practice when he was caught in the crossfire.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

As the investigation continues, one suspect, a 30-year-old of Brutus Street, Agricola, is presently in police custody. The police are said to be looking for at least two other individuals for questioning about the crime.
