A city shop owner was remanded to prison yesterday after he was charged with possession of narcotics.

The charge, which was read by acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, alleges that Richard Bailey, 32, on January 25th, at Turning Point, East La Penitence, had 220 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris objected to bail being granted and told the court that the cannabis was found in a haversack that Bailey had in his possession at his shop.

Bailey, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was subsequently remanded and the matter was adjourned until February 25th, 2019.
