An office assistant at the Ministry of Public Security is now a remanded prisoner after he was charged with an armed robbery in which he was purportedly shot by his accomplice, resulting in his capture.

Shaquille Duncan, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus read to him in Georgetown.

It is alleged that on February 5th, at Mandela Avenue, Duncan, in the company of another, while being armed with a gun, robbed Steve Munroe of a $360,000 gold chain.

According to Prosecutor Quinn Harris, Duncan and Munroe had a scuffle for the chain after which Duncan was accidently shot by his accomplice. Harris said Duncan was then detained by public-spirited persons, who had chased the robbers. He added that Duncan admitted to the crime while in the custody of the police.

Harris then objected to bail based on the fact that a firearm was used in the commission of the crime.

Duncan was then remanded to prison until March 4th, 2019, when his next hearing is slated.
