Partners of the Americas to host horticultural therapy presentation

The Farmer to Farmer Program of Partners of the Americas is inviting the general public to a presentation on the importance of Horticultural Therapy

According to a Partners of the Americas release, the organisation which was founded in 1964 is private, nonprofit and non-partisan. It links US states with Latin American and Carib-bean countries in partnerships that use the energy and skills of citizen volunteers, their institutions and communities to address shared concerns of social, economic and cultural development.

The local chapter in Guyana, linked with Mississippi, works on projects in diverse areas including health, reproductive rights, emergency preparedness, agriculture, and cultural and educational exchanges.

The workshop will take place at the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, Carmichael St, Georgetown on Tuesday 23rd July from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. There is no charge for admission.

It will be conducted by Horticul-tural Therapist and a Farmer to Far-mer Program volunteer, Maureen Regan, a graduate of Horticultural Therapy from the New York Botanical Garden.

Persons interested in reserving a place at the presentation can contact Jermaine Joseph or Leon Peters at 222-2991; or e-mail Jermaine at jjoseph@ partners.net or Leon at lpeters@partners.net.
