Host, Guyana completed a comfortable 57-run win over the Windward Islands to secure the fourth posting in the just concluded Cricket West Indies (CWI), Colonial Medical Insurance Women’s Super50 championship at Bourda, yesterday.

The win came on the back of match-winning performances from Erva Giddings and Sheneta Grimmond who with bat and ball respectively, did their bit to carry Guyana over the line.

Windward who won the toss and inserted the host, limited them to 58-6 as leg-spinner Afy Fletcher produced an enterprising spell to unsettle the Guyanese.

Giddings, however, came to the fore and scripted an unbeaten knock of 34 inclusive of two fours to see her side to 132 before they were dismissed in the final over.

Akaze Thompson (18) was the next best scorer as Fletcher ended 3-19 from her allotted ten overs to lead her side’s tidy bowling effort.

However, Windward in response, were skittled out for 75 in 33.2 overs with Fletcher returning with the bat to top score with 26 as off-spinner Grimmond ripped through the middle order to finish with figures of 4-23.

She received support from her off-spinner partner Ploffiana Millington (2-12) who produced a strangling spell upfront to set an ideal bowling tone for the Guyanese.
