Guyanese international artiste Eddy Grant is expected to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on US television channel NBC to perform his world top charted song “Electric Avenue”.

According to a release from Grant, he was approached by Fallon’s team to make the live performance and he has consented to do so on July 31.

“Electric Avenue” hit number 2 on the USA Billboard Top 100 charts in 1983 and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the same year.

It has been covered by numerous artists and was used in the 2015 Superbowl advertisement for BMW featuring Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel. It was also featured in the movie Pineapple Express. The song is named after the street in Brixton, London and in 2016 Grant was invited by the Mayor of London to switch on illumination of installment of the street’s name.

Fallon has made it his mission as host of “The Tonight Show” to ensure “viewers end the day with a smile.” Each weeknight, he has A-list guests, from movie stars to athletes, comedians, public figures and everyone in between. “He also delivers a signature nightly monologue, performs in topical comedy sketches, plays fan-favorite games, and presents recurring segments like ‘Thank You Notes’. Today’s popular musical guests also stop by to perform alongside house band The Roots,” a description of the show said.
