Adrian Sukhwa guided Albion Community Center Cricket Club to a nine-wicket win over Rose Hall Town and lift the Berbice Cricket Board/Raffik 100-ball second division title yesterday.

With heavy winds and sweltering heat at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground, Rose Hall Town won the toss and opted to bat where they were contained to 73 all out off  98 balls while Albion responded with 74 for one, winning with 42 balls to spare.

Sukwah, 21, smashed five boundaries, three of which went for sixes, including a straight drive into the sightscreen over Keith Simpson’s head as he raced to 45 not out from 35 balls.

After Sukwah lost his opening partner, Jeetendra Outar (06) who was run out via direct hit from Jonathan Rampersaud with the score on 23, he forged an unbroken partnership of 51 with his captain, Sharaz Ramcharran, who made a 16-ball 23, highlighted by three boundaries.

After the match, Ramcharran thanked the Berbice Cricket Board and the sponsors for a well-organized tournament while stating that the final was keenly contested between the two sides.

Ramcharran thanked his side for sticking to the plan and executing perfectly and called on the troops to bring the same momentum as they face the same opposition today in

Earlier, Rose Hall Town skipper, Junior Sinclair was the only batsman with a substantial score of 29 from 28 balls, laced with three boundaries before he pulled out a ‘dilscoop’ which is a variation of the paddle scoop only to be caught at short fine leg.

Sinclair added 31 for the opening partnership with Surendra Kissoonlall (13) before Kissonlall was trapped leg before wicket to Leon Cecil.

Left-arm spinner, Kelvin Umroa, then rocked the middle order claiming three for 19 and inflicting two crucial runouts as well as a diving catch at long on to dismiss Simpson for 12.
