Guyana’s badminton aces and siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani were presented with the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) awards Saturday.

According to a release, the presentation was done in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the Badminton Champion Banquet where the siblings were bestowed with the awards for their outstanding achievements in the field of college sport in Alberta, Canada.

The duo was also awarded for having been selected to the 2019/2020 All-Conference Badminton Team. This is the second time Narayan received the award.

“It’s a great achievement for both Guyanese athletes who have been performing extremely well and maintain the top three positions in the Playoffs at the ACAC Tournament 1, 2 & 3 played from September 2019 to date,” the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) said in a release to the media.

The Guyanese duo began 2020 in a rich vein of form.

Priyanna at the top of the year clinched silver in the women’s open singles A-division category of the 2020 Honolulu Tournament held in Hawaii.  She continued her impressive start of 2020 by copping another international medal – bronze – in 2019/2020 ACAC Badminton tournament.

Narayan at that event was also a podium finisher, collecting two third-place medals in the men’s singles and doubles categories, respectively.

Narayan later in January, playing for the Kings University won the bronze in the men’s doubles category of another ACAC tournament while Priyanna, playing for Olds College, won two bronze medals in the women’s doubles and singles category, respectively.
