A 106-run last-wicket stand between Harrinarine Bissondyal and Muhamad Wazidali allowed Cornelia Ida Cricket Club to secure a 91-run win over Windsor Forest `A’ in the lone West Demerara Cricket Association/Beacon Café 50-over fixture on Sunday.

The eighth-round showdown at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground, saw CI post 244 in 48.1 overs after winning the toss and batting.

In reply Windsor Forest were dismissed for 153 in 28.5 overs.

Bissondyal, coming in at 11 took control of the match with a top score of 66, coming from 57 balls laced with four sixes. The right-hander also carved eight fours, half of which were hit consecutively through deep mid-wicket off of Avinash Ganesh in the 44th over. However, he was trapped leg before wicket by Maniram Ragnauth who ended with three for 23.

Wazidali, who was dropped on 10 by the wicketkeeper, finished on 55 not out from 88 balls. He hit three fours and two sixes.

Arshad Azim (33) and Vaikash Dhaniram (31) forged a 56-run stand for the fourth wicket after CI slipped to 18 for three due to Ragnauth’s early strikes.

When the partnership was broken by Kishun Tracy, who trapped Dhaniram leg before wicket, CI lost three wickets in the space of four runs including the wickets of Ajita Persaud and Khemraj Ramsundar, both bowled by the left-arm spinner.

Tracy ended with four for 32 and Deendyal Guyadeen two for 44.

Windsor Forest’s chase was guided by opener Deoram Chanderbir who made 45, decorated with six fours and two sixes. He added 46 for the second wicket with Lalta Suknanan (20) but after both batsmen were removed by Azim (3-34), the chase was foiled.

Only Abdulah Wazidali provided a substantial score of 30 which featured three sixes and two fours. Bissondyal returned to quickly dispose of the lower order and end with three for 10 from two overs.
