Former Jamaican runner Kemoy Campbell recovering after another cardiac incident

(Jamaica Gleaner) Former national distance runner Kemoy Campbell is now recovering after experiencing a cardiac episode early this week.

Campbell, who retired last September posted on his Instagram page today that he was passing out while driving but was resuscitated by an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD). 

“Thankfully I was able to pull over to safety and call 911. Fire rescue came, checked me out and said everything was OK,” he said. 

Campbell further said he has undergone tests to determine the cause of the incident.

Campbell is the holder of the national records in the 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m.

He collapsed during February 2019 Melrose Games in New York and was advised to end his career due to complications from the incident.
