A 10-wicket match haul from Guyanese pacer, Demetri Cameron, spurred Cosmos Sports Club to a 31-run win over Sancho St. Julien Sports Club last weekend in the Trinidad and Tobago National two-day league.

At Sancho Road Recreational Ground, Cosmos won the toss and opted to bat but were bundled for 140 in 36.4 overs with Ryan Basdeo hitting a top score of 38 from 42 balls, decorated with one six and half dozen fours. Basdeo was supported by cameos from Nathan Roopan (34), Barry Bandoo (28) and Kyle Roopchand (28).

Justin Persaud was the principal wicket taker for St. Julien returning three for 31 while garnering support from Daniel Cooper (2-9) and Pererson Francis (2-22).

St. Julien enjoyed a three-run first innings lead after managing 143 all out in 26.5 overs, compliments of Persaud’s unbeaten 22-run cameo batting at 10. Kareem Noel and Quinci Babel both scored 20 as the batsmen found Cameron difficult to get away. The 27-year-old picked up six for 70 with contributions coming from Nicholas Sanise (2-21) and Roopan (2-34).

However, Bandoo carved nine fours and two sixes as he raced to 60 from 48 balls batting at eight to push his side to 187 in 46.1 overs. Garfield Benjamin and D’Angelo Sanise chipped in with 38 and 34 respectively.

Daklee Marceno picked up three for 40 while Brian Pegas, Amrit Gopichandisingh and Justin Persaud captured two wickets each.

Set 185 for victory, Nicholas Sanise (6-63) and Cameron (4-38) rampaged through the order. Francis and Kevin Wilkes scored 27 runs each and Nicosie Rajkumar made 23 but no other batsman made a substantial score as St. Julien were dismissed for 153 in 27.5 overs.
