Woman held in NA after threatening to shoot partner

A woman was detained by the police shortly after mid-day Monday after she allegedly threatened to shoot her partner who managed to disarm her.

The incident took place around 12.10 pm at Chapel Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

According to a police press release, the woman, who is employed at a medical institution was disarmed of an unlicensed pistol with two live rounds of ammunition.

The weapon was handed over to the police at the Central Police Station.

According to the police, the woman reportedly told investigators that she borrowed the pistol from a New Amsterdam barber.  The barber was also detained and he has since denied ownership of the weapon.

They are both in custody as the investigation continue.
