(Trinidad Guardian) A 26-year-old labourer has been committed to stand trial for the 2015 murder of Guyanese national Ashanti Debidin.

Richie Mohammed, 26, of Williamsville, was committed by Princes Town Magistrate Rae Roopchand via video conference.

Debidin, 26, was stabbed to death at her Garth Road, Williamsville home in May 2015. She moved to Trinidad in 2005, got married and had a young son.

The matter began last February via paper committal in which the statements of 19 witnesses were tendered.

Mohammed was represented by attorney Petronilla Basdeo while state attorney Kimberly Gunness prosecuted the matter.
