The former national player was described as a vibrant and crucial member of the Guyana squad during the 90’s and early 2000’s by President of the local body Levi Nedd.

“He was a good player,” Nedd told Stabroek Sport.

“He wore the Guyana cap starting in the late 90’s early 2000. He commenced his career with club Falcons of Canje, Berbice then moved to Vikings of Blairmont in Berbice after which he went on to represent the Vipers of Georgetown.

“However, his final destination and his main club was Rollers of New Amsterdam. That’s important to note,” Nedd said.

The GVF President spoke highly of Sutherland and explained the indelible contributions he made during his tenure with the national squad.

“During his national quest, he was a very much enthusiastic player and on numerous occasions would deploy of his best to ensure victory for his team.”

Nedd expressed heartfelt condolences to his relatives, friends, associates and co-players on behalf of the volleyball fraternity.
