(Jamaica Star) Acts of goodwill almost cost a good Samaritan his manhood on Wednesday. Otis James, founder of James and Friends Education Programme, said he was left nursing injuries after a ram goat attacked him and kicked him in his crotch and other places as he was delivering vouchers and care packages to the less fortunate in Effortville, Clarendon.

He stated that the incident occurred just as he was finishing up the handing out of packages and was hurrying to beat the nightly COVID-influenced 6 p.m. curfew.

“Mi just a leave one a the house dem and lean up on a wall a dry off mi foot to go back in mi vehicle when mi see di goat a blaze like Usain Bolt a come. Mi see say a my direction him a race inna but mi couldn’t move. So by the time me jump inna di air, him flick up and jump and him horns dem reach under mi groin area same time. When him flick, him also fling mi about eight feet from where I was,” he said.

James said he fell but the animal showed no mercy and again charged at him.

“Mi take up piece a iron and lick him, but him insist say him have to damage mi same way. Is a youth see what a gwan and take up a hose and start spray water on him, a so him run off,” he said.

James showed THE WEEKEND STAR photographs of bruises on his hands and leg; one of his knees was covered with a bandage.

BEAT UP PEOPLE

“It a pain mi bad, mi nah lie. Last night (Wednesday) is kerosene oil and young banana mi use to dress mi knee. The goat almost kick out mi groin, star, but mi hear say mi a no the first person him attack eno. Mi hear say a regular ting fi him kick down and beat up the people dem inna the place,” he said.

James said he will not allow this incident to stop him from carrying out his charitable duties.

“Sometimes when the devil send humans to fight yuh and it don’t work, he will send even an animal just like the big bad goat. Mi nah make this stop mi though, because mi and the sponsors dem from James and Friends programme going to still do what we are doing today (yesterday) because a lot of people are in need of help,” he said.

He, however, stated that he may just be spending a bit more time at home during the pandemic.

“Government say mi must tan a mi yard and I didn’t listen, but it look like the goat a tell mi di same message, and dats why him kick mi down. People a go see less a me now because mi a go start stay a mi yard more. The goat teach me a lesson,” he said between laughter.
