Two injured in Plaisance drive-by shooting

Two friends were injured on Saturday night following a drive-by shooting at Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.

One of the injured men has been identified as Kevin Bernard Jr. The identity of the other remains unknown.

Regional Commander Royston Andries-Junor told Stabroek News that an investigation is ongoing into the incident which occurred around 8.30pm.

He said no arrest has yet been made.

Andries-Junor explained that the victims alleged that they were standing on Victoria Street, Plaisance after exiting Bernard’s yard when they were approached by two men on a motorcycle.

The pillion rider opened fire on the friends before escaping.

The victims were both rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
