Dr Lawrence Lewis, Dean of the University of Guyana’s Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, has been declared a national winner of the 2020 ENERGY GLOBE Award, the university announced yesterday. In a press release, the university noted that the award, considered one of the most prestigious worldwide, is presented annually to outstanding sustainable projects in the area of the environment and energy. Dr Lewis has been declared a national winner based on his project, titled “Management and Use of Acacia Plantations on mined out Sites as Bioenergy Plantations for improved Livelihoods of Mining Communities.” All national winners will be officially presented to the public for the first time on June 30, 2020 at www.energyglobe.info.
