Two cops charged with murder of John Fernandes worker

Two police officers were today charged and remanded to prison for the murder of Cecil Sampat, the John Fernandes Limited worker who was fatally shot following a chase in city last month.  

The two ranks were identified as Corporal Godwin Thomas and Constable Troy Munroe, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.

After the charge was read to them, they were remanded to prison until August 21st2020.

Sampat, a John Fernandes Limited worker, succumbed after nearly two weeks after at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Another man, Winston Fraser, has been left paralysed as a result of the shooting.
