Confident.

That was how members of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) felt following discussions with the new Sports Minister, Charles Ramson Jr., yesterday at the National Resource Centre.

“We left the meeting feeling pretty confident that he is committed to the development of our sport” said President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson.

Hutson added “In my humble opinion, the meeting with the Minister of Sports was fruitful. The AAG’s delegation was able to update the minister and his team on its basic operations and competition schedule.

Hutson said being a former Track and Field athlete Ramson Jr., “Made our discussion much easier. We at the AAG will be looking forward with much anticipation to the fruits of our deliberation.”

Not wanting to go into much specifics, Hutson disclosed that the hosting of the CARIFTA Games in 2022 formed a major part of the discussion.

The upgrading of facilities, the effective implementation of the National Coaches Programme and the return of the Guyana Games and Inter-Guiana Games were also discussed yesterday.
